Well I Did It...

Edited: Alrighty, I made another video...all by myself. The only help I had was from a bag of yarn, so I was kinda weirded out by looking at my hands and looking through the viewer to make sure I was being filmed. Anyway, an issue was brought up about bringing the wrapped needle through what I described as a "figure eight loop." Poor description and I should have thought to show the proper method instead of "my" method or technique. So, here it is again for clarification and with my apologies. Whew!

This was done in one take. The first and the last. LOL I was very nervous as you can tell from my staccato speech. I hope you can tell how the twisted german cast on is done. Sorry I kinda goofed on the demo to show how the cast on is done for left-handed knitters...even though I'm a natural leftie, I normally cast on right-handed.

Enjoy!

Please, be kind! This may officially end my life as a knitter. LOL

Keep On Knitting...

I think that you did an awesome job Michelle!!! I don't know what I expected our voice to sound like, but it took some getting used to. Weird, huh? I agree with Marlene - you had a very clear voice and described well what you were doing.

Wow, your needle was dancing with that yarn. That was a great demonstration. And I agree that you have a great voice.

Michelle, Really great idea and great job. I'd like to see more of these, hint, hint. Love your blog.

Excellent job. Looks like you could get pretty fast at it once you get the hang of it.

I have been doing this by bringing the upper strand through the top loop instead of the bottom loop. Do you know what difference this makes?

Thanks everyone.

melcauble, it makes no difference. If you bend your thumb a certain way when you get to that point, it's one big loop. This is just the way I do it.

You are my hero of the week. AWESOME job. Just Awesome. I'm going to use your video to try this one. Thanks so much for posting a how to video. I'm also very much a visual learner.

Thanks for clarifying the upper loop vs. lower loop in the figure 8. I learned how to do this off the web (not an easy task) and I wanted to make sure that I was doing it correctly. I guess it doesn't matter if it's providing good results. This is my cast-on of choice. It seems a little stretchier and it looks prettier than the long-tail. Thanks for doing the video!
