Hot, Hot, Hot!

Besides being a real dork and redecorating my bathroom and kitchen during one of the hottest summers of my memory [which isn't saying much] I've been in a sock knitting frenzy. The thought of knitting anything else during this summer of intense mind-altering heat and humidity makes me want to slip into a coma. Even so, I have been planning another shawl and have finally settled on a yarn and hope to start on it within the next couple of weeks. So, for now, you're stuck with pics of my socks. Just pretend and oooh and ahhhh, okay.

The first pair I made at the demand of my husband because he said that I've not made him enough socks, which is absolute malarky, [I have a feeling that my sock yarn stash, that is up to more than 100 balls is making him feel a little overwhelmed] but I decided to keep the peace and knit him up a pair of these.

Yarn: Fortissima Colori 1000 #9072 - Mexiko/Sundown
Needle: 2.25mm using the magic loop

So, husband is happy with his new pair of socks. Happy husband makes happy wife, right? Happy husband calls wife from work and suggests he take her to Romni Wools on the weekend, all out of the blue I might add. Happy wife does happy dance and buys more sock yarn. Sigh. I'm pathetic. I have a sock yarn disorder.

Anyway, I got some really pretty DGB Confetti in one of their new colours which I thought would be perfect for my daughter. So, I whipped up a pair of socks for her. It wasn't as easy as I thought it would be. My daughter has teeny feet. I tried her first sock with a heel flap and it didn't fit right at all. So, I looked through several of my sock books and settled on the garter stitch short row heel from Cool Socks, Warm Feet by Lucy Neatby and used only 45% of the stitches for the heel. These fit her perfectly.

I was now getting bored and went on the hunt for a sock pattern to do my Opal Petticoat yarn justice when I saw these. I thought they were gorgeous and printed out the pattern from Sockbug. Great pattern, simple enough to memorize and really works the colours of the pretty Opal Petticoat yarn.

If you were hoping I was done with the socks you're sadly mistaken. I couldn't resist the Opal Rainforest yarn in Tiger. I missed it the first time around and to be brutally honest, I didn't care for it anyway. The new Tiger yarn is much nicer and being the good mommy that I am, I'm making my daughter a pair of these tiger socks because she just loves Tigger from Winnie the Pooh. Now she can bounce around singing Woohoohoohoo! with her feet looking like Tigger's.

Now I'm done with the socks.

Ahem, I heard that.

On a final note, have you seen the new Eris cardigan and pullover pattern up at the Girl from Auntie by Jenna Wilson? Of course I went all cow eyed and bought and printed all 40 pages yesterday. I swear for a moment or two I thought my printer was having a hernia and I didn't think the old girl would make it to page 40 in the heat, but she did. Can't wait for autumn to start on this one.

Have a good one and Keep On Knitting...

I love your socks -- all of them! And I'm not kidding either. I envy people who can knit socks so easily. I have no idea how, but I will figure it out!! I must! :)

I only have 2 balls of sock yarn in my sock yarn stash, but as soon as I get the hang of knitting socks you can bet my sock yarn stash will grow. :)

Love the socks. They all look fantastic. It's hot here too and I just can't get my sweaty hands to spin. Hubby is on strike so I have no $$ for new yarn otherwise I would be dashing out to buy that Opal Petticoat yarn. As it is I have printed the pattern in preparation for the end of the strike. *sigh*
