The Perseverance of a Knitter

The Feather & Fan Shawl...she's done.

Finally.

I started this shawl last September. So, it has taken just over a year with a lot of whining to complete.

So, without further ado, here she is in all her globby glory.

Pattern: Feather & Fan Shawl from the book, A Gathering of Lace

Designer: Eugen Beugler

Yarn: 5 hanks of Knitpicks Shimmer in Flower Garden [over-dyed using Jacquard Acid Dye in Burgundy]

Needles: 3.75mm

No pattern errors.

Now, everyone that reads this blog knows that I haven't been happy with my colour choice for this shawl. I shall only blame KnitPicks myself. As you can see from the above photo, you cannot make out the main focus of the design which is the flower that is in the centre of the shawl.

Yea, it's there.

Somewhere.

I could have just excepted Knitpicks my faux pas and be done with it...but, why make it easy, eh?

So, a little bottle of this...

Along with a big pot and some simmering water...

and you have yourself, with very little effort, a gorgeous deep burgundy shawl, which this pic does not do justice to the colour.

Ohhhhh. Ahhhhhh.

So easy and yet, so effective.

Look! You can see the flower in the centre. I'm very, very happy with it now.

Moving along, it is Socktoberfest and I have joined for the first time this year.

I'm really excited because it will give me the guilt-free opportunity to finish off the mates to these...

Yea, yea, I had sockstartitis. Now I'm determined to have sockfinishuptis.

I've also been busy painting. One heavy coat of primer and 3 coats of Amalfi Red and we have what we were looking for. It was a pain in the ass, but well worth the effort. Here is a shot of the staircase. This runs up through the hallway upstairs and the hallway downstairs.

Next, the kitchen. Bwhahahahahaa!!!!

Keep On Knitting...

P.S. Because I can be such a forgetful arse, I want to thank everyone for the lovely well wishes on our marriage.

is that blocked? ikinda liked both colors, lol, although teh darker is stunning. and paint of those dark intense colors suck. my sons insisted on orange (yeah, home depot orange) in their room in the last house. we got 3 coats on, but unfortunately, they never got to live in it. i wonder if the lady who bought the house repainted it?

The first pic of the shawl isn't blocked. I took the pic just before it went to the dye pot. The second shawl is sorta blocked. LOL I have a lot of dry skin on my hands and everytime I stick a pin in some of my skin catches on the shawl and tugs everything out of alignment. It'll do. [g]

I agree, painting dark colours suck...that's why the kitchen will be a nice light shade of blue. [g]
