Life Interupted

Funny that. Sorry, just having a melancholy moment.

Anyway, I've been keeping busy and I give you a picture heavy post to begin your week.

As you know, I finally received my Majacraft Suzie Pro. She spins like a dream! I dug out some Romney fibre I bought from Spunky Eclectic called bubblegum and decided on spinning a 3-ply fingering-weight yarn.

The specs are: 16 wpi - 154 yards @ 91 grams

I think my first pair of handspun socks are calling my name with this skein.

Now, I thought I was proud of that skein until I dug up some merino/tencel blend called Autumn Sunset I bought from Susan's Spinning Bunny.

Specs: 392 yards - 105 grams - 18 wpi - 3-Ply light fingering weight

Now, I hate to toot my own horn, but bloody hell, this is one gorgeous skein of yarn! I am also smart enough to know that it isn't all me...my Aberdeen, she takes over and makes beautiful yarn, whilst I sit there like a dumb-arse holding fibre and moving my feet up and down.

She can't take credit for choosing a pattern for the yarn, though. I knew that the Morning Surf Scarf would be perfect.

I started with only 36 stitches as opposed to 76 stitches. I didn't want such a wide scarf.

It shows of the colours of the yarn wonderfully. I'm pleased.

I'm also thrilled with a purchase I made.

Considering the last two weeks, I felt I needed a little pick me up and this was the ticket.

What's that tucked away in the lovely tissue, you ask?

This!

It's the La Digitessa sock kit by Yarnissima. The service was incredible. I received my kit, literally, in six days! I was beyond thrilled.

My first skein of Wollmeise!

Oh. My. Gawd! Gorgeous. It's the digitessa colourway.

Simple little treats were included in my package, like this wee skein of yarn and...

itty-bitty cookies!

She even includes a laminated card of the main pattern chart so you can stick it in your knitting bag and not worry about it getting mangled.

It was the perfect pick-me-up and I can't wait to start knitting these socks. It's toe up and I'm so not a toe up sock knitter, but these are too gorgeous for me to care.

It's also time for me to start clearing up those knits that have been hanging around on my needles for too long.

First off the needles are my Giotto socks by Anna Bell.

Love 'em!

I also finally made a wee sock for my wee sock blocker keychain.

Unfortunately, I was only able to get a pic of it before it was claimed by my daughter for her backpack.

Guess I'll just have to knit another!

Have a good one!

Keep On Knitting...

Yikes!! You've certainly been busy - the Morning Surf Scarf is gorgeous and you're some sort of evil to be tempting me with that Yarnissima kit!

I have to ask - where did you get that tiny sock blocker from?

Oh my gosh Michelle, everything is SO beautiful it is hard to focus enough to comment. The spinning, the yarn, the sock kit and the finished socks. ALL unbelievably gorgeous.
