and it was just in time for my birthday, yesterday! A gift to moi, if you please. I really love it. I kept having second thoughts about this shawl while I was making it...one minute, I was really liking the way it looked, the next, I was ready to frog it and use the Koigu for something else. Maybe I really am getting old. [slaps self on the forehead]. But, I am really happy with the outcome.
I've made my Charlotte using 6 colours because I wanted it to be larger, but I was also curious how much of colour 5 I would have left if it were to be the final colour, as I've read on a few blogs that this is a concern. Here is the outcome...
I knit an extra row, to account for the cast off. I definately would not have had enough to make the edging, let alone fringe. So, the compromise would have been to use colour 1 for the edging. As it was, I ran out of colour 4 while fringing. I just used another colour. It doesn't make much difference because there are so many colours colliding anyway.
Since my Charlotte is done, I've picked up the Field of Flowers shawl again. I'm half way done the edging and hope to see it off the needles and blocked sometime early next week. I have made enough progress to show you this pic...
And yes, it was my birthday yesterday. I had a lovely day, even though I was celebrating being one year older, yet again. But, the gifts and thoughts from family make it bearable...ahem, somewhat. [g]
My girlfriend sent me this card...
CRINGE!!
My sweet, loving hubby gifted me with some more I Love Lucy memorabilia, along with $100 to spend at Romni tomorrow. Looks like more pics tomorrow. [wink]

The shawls are beautiful. Happy Birthday, by the way...I've been trying to get my hubby to buy me something "yarn like" for years - a gift certificate is good!!
Happy Birthday!! Your Charlotte looks really beautiful.
Happy, happy birthday!!! The Charlotte Shawl looks wonderful, and good for you for making it bigger. The small size has always turned me off from making it, but yours looks perfect. And I LOVE your colour choice for your second shawl. Beau-ti-ful! Have fun at Romni girl!
Michelle, the shawl is gorgeous!!! I love all the colors.
I've a technical question when you've time to answer it. How do you get the pictures to post mid-writing? I couldn't get the picture program "Hello" to let me do that ? Just edit after loading? Then how to get more than one picture in a post? My newbie is showing!
Thanks again for the rapid feedback! I've got you bookmarked, and your Field of flowers shawl looks wonderfully lacy. What yarn are you using?
