Making My List

Checking it twice.

Yep, I'm gearing up for the Waterloo Knitter's Fair tomorrow. I'm always excited about going and I'm looking forward to meeting other bloggers like Kim of Curlie Girl and Jen of Life of Reilly. Sorry you can't get there Samantha. I do expect you to make the effort next year, though. [wink]

Also, from reading her blog, I have found out that the Yarn Harlot will be there. Just call me flabbergasted!

Now, wonder of wonders, I'm not going to bore you with socks this week.

Okay, I heard that.

Ahem, as I was saying, I'm not going to bore you with socks this week...or for the rest of this year.

It is finally cool enough to start on some larger projects the first of them being the Eris cardigan.

I'm using elann's Peruvian Highland Wool in Violet Heather, the colour of which isn't at it truest in this pic.

I'm totally addicted to knitting Eris and I'm looking forward to this sweater fitting me properly. Send up a little prayer for me, eh.

The next project I started is the Feather and Fan shawl from A Gathering of Lace.

I'm using Shimmer in the Flower Garden colourway from Knitpicks. Now, I really do love Knitpicks, but I need to say that they have to get better photos of their variegated colours. I will also say that I'm very happy with the solid colours I ordered. The pic on their site of the Flower Garden colorway looks more muted than what I received. To better describe the colourway to you, it is: blood red, fushia and pale pink. Ewwww! This is the bane of internet shopping. Ah well, I shall make the most of it. It doesn't look to fugly, does it?

Have a great weekend and Keep On Knitting...

Ooh, I have some Peruvian Highland in that color. Looking forward to seeing it worked up. The variegated shimmer isn't fugly, just bright like candy.

From Brenda in London,
Let me know how you like the Peruvian Wool from Elann. I am thinking of buying some for the Ribbed Cardi from Chicknits.
Unless of course I see something else at the WKF tomorrow.
Thanks.

Hi Brenda in London,

I like the Peruvian wool just fine. I made a Ribby Cardi with it. It does pill, but that's the nature of most wool, IMO. I just use one of those shavers.

Have fun at the fair!

Can't wait to see your Feather and Fan Shawl grow. I love the The F&F pattern.

I know what you mean about Knit Pick's photos. Even though your yarn is very pretty, if you wanted a specific shade, getting a different one can be frustrating.

I hope you had a great time at the knitter's fair! I will definitely be there next year -- with bells on!!

I like the colourway in Shimmer you're using. But I'm one of those weird people who doesn't think that (certain) reds and pinks clash.

Is Eris a difficult pattern? I'd love to make something like that, but I'm not sure I'm quite *there* yet ...

So sorry I didn't get a chance to meet you at the Fair! I hope you had better shopping luck than I did :-)

Bright? I LIKE bright. If you can't stand it when you are done....well, you know where to send it. ;-) I think it looks lovely.

The best thing Knitpicks ever did was to start selling color cards. Nonetheless, I think your Feather and Fan will be really pretty in that colorway and can't wait to see the finished result!

nice Eris. I'm using the same yarn (and colour) as you. What a coincidence. Happy knitting.
