Eris Unveiling...

As promised, here are a couple of pics of Eris. My exhausted husband is seeing double, so you're lucky you're only seeing a single image. [g]

I only have one, well, okay two, problems with the cardigan. The first is that I don't like the gap at the hem. It is the design element and I did it as instructed, but I don't care for it. I may buy another zipper [which is my other problem because it is white] and install it lower so it isn't so gappy. Is gappy a word? I'm sure you know what I'm talking about, though.

I am, on the other hand, very pleased with the collar. It fits well. I was a little concerned because there was talk that it laid low on the shoulders. The last thing I wanted was another disaster like my Yo-Yo pullover.

All in all, it is a very comfortable attractive cardigan to wear. I took it out for a test today and I'm satisfied that I'll be wearing it often. I'll probably also make this in the pullover one day.

Pattern: Eris

Designer: Jenna Wilson

Yarn: 12 balls of Peruvian Highland Wool in Violet Heather from elann.com

Size: 42.5

Needles: 3.75mm to achieve row gauge and 4.50mm to achieve stitch gauge

Now I'm off to work on Inishmore.

Keep On Knitting...

It looks stunning on you! I think I know what you mean about the gappy-ness at the bottom, but nonetheless I think it looks great! :)

Eris looks great, I really like the colour. I'd like to make this sweater myself at some point.
I know what you mean about the gappy-ness too, I had the same thought when I first saw the pattern.
Thanks for commenting on my blog, I feel better about this yarn now.

The collar looks good, the size looks good and the color is beautiful I´m sure it is a good idea to change the zipper to a longer one in the right color. Monica

Eris looks great! I don´t think there´s something wrong with the gap at the bottom but that´s my point of veiw ;-)
The color is amazing! I´ve just bought the pattern and haven´t yet decided what yarn to knit with. And I still have the sleeves to finish on Rogue....

It looks fabulous on you, and the colour is really great. I think I'm with you on the hem opening though; I'd probably close it too. Details like that, while they look great on the mannequin, only make me self conscious about my belly.

I don't know that I'd change the gappiness myself. If your photo is any indication, the lines a flattering. It leads the eye up and into the waist shaping, and creates a very fetching line.

Your cardigan looks great and I don't think the hem looks "gappy." That said, if you are getting a new zipper anyway, maybe you could try one of the double zippers (I'm not sure what they are called) that you can zip from the bottom and the top? That way you could put in a longer zipper but not always have it fully zipped. I think that's what Claudia used on her Rogue cardigan, and I may look into one for my Eris (if I ever get it finished, lol).
I also love the Wallace & Gromit pics on your sidebar.

You look wonderful! I love your colour choice, as always, and the design is so flattering, I'm sure you'll never take it off! Stunning as always my dear, even with the so-called "gappy" ness..hehe!

I am going over to purchase that pattern it looks lovely on you and as for the gappy bit on the bottom I like it, that is what sets it apart from other cardis' but hey if thats what you feel needs doing to it, you have to be 100% happy with it. I do like the jumper (sweater) so I think I will make that but next year as we are heading into summer it is too hot to knit thick things.
