The Knitter's Frolic

Was what I expected. It was great to finally attend one and say hi to Julie of The Needle Emporium, but my favorite is still the Knitter's Fair in Waterloo and will be the only one I'll attend from now on. I like the build up of anticipation for the once a year event.

In any case, I scored B. I. G.

Beginning at the top left of the photo, I am now the excited possessor of three skeins of Zephyr by Jaggerspun in Mahogany to make the Flirty Ruffles Shawl by Fiddlesticks

Hmmmm, Hmmmm, good.

Next is a book I've been wanting for a while and nailed one down at the Four Seasons booth. It's the Second Book of Modern Lace Knitting by Marianne Kinzel. I have been coveting the Rose of England [click here to see a few pics] and Thistle "Balmoral" designs for some time and have plans to make both in the near future.

The third is a beautiful, soft as butter [I'm not kidding] baby alpaca 2-ply laceweight from Misti Alpaca I bought from the Yarn Source. Thanks again for the math help. I was caressing and falling into a trance on the drive home. This is gorgeous, gorgeous stuff and I wish I got more. I think it will become a super spiral shawl from a Gathering of Lace.

Since I had also run out of the blue Alafoss Lopi for my husbands Sigvaldi cardigan, I was hoping I'd be able to score one ball at the Frolic, but it wasn't to be. So, after I molested all the fibre, we headed over to Romni wools [and it was actually pretty tidy] for a ball, which luckily enough they had. Stunned silly, I noticed I hadn't bought any sock yarn at the Frolic and so, in honour of Curlie Girl's absence, I bought some. Cheers, Kim. I better see you in Waterloo.

I'm now off for a nap...with some baby alpaca.

Keep On Knitting...

Michelle
I have been reading your blog for some time so it was great to meet you.
I agree with you that the show is totally different from the Knitter's Fair. I think that in September everyone is ready to get going with their knitting which makes a more exciting environment. Also, the fall yarns are always more exciting than summer.
Glad you found the Lopi!!!

Sheesh. I was at the Knitter's Frolic and I missed you! Likewise, I too had a good haul -- and a great day. I'll be looking for you at Waterloo!
