Ewww, I've Got the Cooties!

Blasted flu. Take a hike.

The last few days have been hell. My daughter and husband came down with the flu last Wednesday. I thought I was going to escape the disgusting virus until Friday night. I knew then that I wasn't going to be so lucky. I was flat on my back, moaning for death, all weekend long. Today, I'm upright and other than misplacing my lung somewhere between the living room and bathroom, I'm feeling pretty peppy...in that hacking cough kinda way.

Since I was being nursemaid last week, I had the opportunity to pick up a couple of projects I have neglected.

The first was finishing my Estonian hand puppet.

Peek-a-boo!

Isn't he adorable! I'm really pleased with how it turned out, considering this is one of my earlier handspun yarns and not as consistent.

For the eyes, I decided to use doll eyes. I didn't like the look of them alone, so I cut some black felt to use behind them. I think it gives the eye a nice effect.

The second project that I managed to pick up and knit on a little before I was attacked by the cooties, was my Kauni cardigan.

I wanted to tackle the neckline and managed well and good, until it was time to cast off. I didn't like the look of it. After a little thought, I decided to try an i-cord cast off.

You know what?

I like it. It gives it a finished look and isn't bulky. I'll also be able to apply it to the button bands and sleeve cuffs.

Now, if you'll please excuse me, I must find and replace the first missing lung as I'm about to cough up it's mate.

Keep On Knitting...

That puppet is adorable!! Reminds me a bit of Lambchop - not in appearance, maybe personality?

Amanda's been hit hard by the flu - 2 days straight in bed! Hopefully tomorrow will be a bit of a recovery day and then she can go back to school.

I'm just stopping by to thank you for your wonderful notes (and excellent design ideas) on the Kauni cardigan over at ravelry. I decided to knit my bottom 'ribbing' as yours, but was stuck with that extra purl bump until I read your notes. You saved me a lot of time and trouble. Your Kauni is beautiful, btw. Looking forward to seeing the final results.

I hope you kick that flu asap. I've got a touch of it myself these days. Staying in and resting (with knitting in hand) is the best medicine.

Sorry about that hacking-up-a-lung flu. I had it at Christmas...and for about 2 weeks afterward. Wasn't fun. The puppet looks great.
