Oh bother." As said by Winnie the Pooh, and me too.

That's how the decision-making is on trying to choose a colour for the Lotus Blossom shawl. Thanks to all that voted. You did help. Honest. It's just that I'm leaning more heavily towards the autumn colour, though a good point was made by Minnie that the wine colour would probably be the best choice because the "colours are more like each other." But, I like to live on the edge and I think this shawl is saying,

"I want to be all about colour. You can make me again in another colour, later."

Don't you just love it when a project speaks to you...and confuses you further?

As for my current project, the Seascape shawl, it's coming along. I don't have a pic, though. I'll take one tomorrow.

I've started on the sixth repeat on the Old Shale Waves, which is a major accomplishment considering I'm knitting 485 stitches per row x4 rows per repeat which is 1,940 stitches x11 repeats which is 21,340 stitches knitted just for the old shale waves pattern alone. Then there is just the seaform picot edging and the top i-cord edging to complete before I can block it. Yes, that was sarcasm. At this point, it feels like I'll never finish. I just want it off the needles and on my blocking board, looking pretty and not all shriveled up on my needles. Oh bother.

Oh, and I just received my copy of A Gathering of Lace. What a beautiful book. If you love lace knitting, I highly recommend you buy this for your library, especially now that it has been released in the more afforable paperback edition. I've also joined the Gathering of Lace Along and the Summer of Lace Yahoo group. This seems to be the year of lace for me.

It's actually amazing that I have been able to narrow it down to 3 choices. I like the opal because it's my birthstone. I like the autumn because it's my favorite season. I like the wine because, well, I'm partial to anything purple or red.

I would like to thank Curlie Girl for this enticement to begin with. You see, she also wants to make the Lotus Blossom shawl and introduced me to its beauty and my present quandary [drooling on my keyboard must now stop before I get an electric shock], which is also her quandary, so I can sympathize [I really don't because she is trouble, enticing me with all her delectable bears and projects]. I'm wondering, have you chosen a colour yet, Kim? [g]

Now, in the poll box I've included the choice of "none of the above - go for a solid colour," which is definately an option. But, I just want to say that I have and will in the future make plenty of solid colour shawls and I may eventually make this shawl in a solid. For the time though, I'd like to make it in a multi-colour and I'm mainly asking for help in the multi colour group.

So, hence this poll for you knitters out there, because I know you all have impeccable taste.

Finally, I'm getting somewhere.

I'm really liking the Alpaca Cloud. It is giving the shawl a nice light halo. I haven't come across any slubs or knots and it is nicely spun. In my opinion, it is a very good quality laceweight for the money...though I'm still partial to Zephyr by Jaggerspun.




Now I'm off to work on some scallops.

Progress...What Progress?

It's too bloody hot to make any progress on any project I'm working on. So, the Sirdar Yo-Yo Pullover is on hold until this heatwave blows over. There is nothing worse than sweaty hands making your yarn squeak on the needles. Yuck!

I did finish up my Dipsy-Doodle scarf. Fat chance you'll see me posing wearing this for a pic in this heat, but here is my 2 a.m. shot of it.

Comments: This was a great knit. Very enjoyable.

Since the only other project besides the Yo-Yo pullover I have on the needles is a sock, I decided to start my Seascape shawl using Alpaca Cloud from Knitpicks. So far, I'm really enjoying the Alpaca Cloud. Not as nice as Zephyr by Jaggerspun, but it's a totally different animal. [g] I just started tonight and managed to finish the first chart, so I'm pretty confident that it'll be perfect heatwave knitting.



My apologies to my blogger friends for not keeping up to date in reading your blogs, but when my computer thermometer reads 105.0F, you kinda take the hint that it's just too hot to even blog or comment. I shall visit soon. Until then,
