I Need More Time...

Knitting time, that is. Now that the weather has been reasonable, my daughter and I have taken to the park. My daughter loves the park. If I left it up to her, she would pitch her Max & Ruby tent next to the play equipment and live at the park. Now, I do stick a sock on the go in my pocket, but I never do get to knit much. That's three hours, [yep, that's right] three solid hours of being at the park and not knitting many stitches. The sacrifices a mother must make.

I did finish my Mermaid socks, though.

I think they are, as my son would say, "chronic!"

Pattern: Mermaid from Cool Socks, Warm Feet by Lucy Neatby

Designer: Lucy Neatby

Yarn: Regia Ringel #5048 Clown

Needles: 2.25mm

I have also finished up the right front of my daughter's "Bearly There" cardigan. I just need to duplicate stitch the bear and it'll be just sleeves and finishing to go. This should be done this week.

I have also been plugging along on my Feather & Fan shawl. Even though I'm 75% complete, I still have a long way to go. I'm also seriously thinking about over-dyeing this crappy colour. The more I work on it, the more it irritates me. I really don't know much about dyeing, so this is a plea to those out there that have dyeing experience to please help me out. I have access to Gaywool dyes. I guess I need help on what colour I should use. Since the deepest colour is the red, would a purple dye work well? Should I maybe use a blue? The wool is Knitpicks Shimmer; 70% Baby Alpaca, 30% Silk.

I also have the new Jordana Paige Knitter's Satchel!

My husband went into the Needle Emporium all by himself to buy it for me, while I waited in the car. Since we had several errands to run that day, this was the best way to get the bag without spending another 3 hours in the store, hemming and hawing at all eye-candy. Yes, I know it's blue and I said I wanted the grape colour. For some reason I took more of a fancy towards the blue. Go figure. I really do love this bag. It's quite roomy. It isn't for a large project, but it will fit a medium one. Thank you Julie. I'll be looking for you at the Frolic.

Sock yarn isn't my only weakness. I also have a weakness for handbags. So, now I'm also eyeballing this one.

I love the mermaid socks so cute. One of these days I may actually get around to knitting myself a pair instead of eyeing everyone elses.

Nice bag! I can understand why your husband went into the Needle Emporium to get it rather than "letting" you go ... LOL My husband would have done the same thing.

The socks are great!!
I met the Lexie Barnes bags in January at a trade show. She is coming out with new and exciting fabrics for fall that I will see in June. I too have an obsession with bags.

I love your socks! I love the way it looks as though it is twisting around.

I have the satchel in lime green and it is great! Enjoy!

I love the Lexie Bag too; very chic!

Oooh, I love the socks!!! I may need to get that book just for that pattern :)

Also, insanely jealous of the Jordana Paige bag. Lucky, lucky you!

I know what you mean about not having enough knitting time...do you think we could apply to the gods for a secret "knitting" hour added into each knitter's day without non-knitters knowing...lol!

Love, love, love, the socks, the bags (lucky girl), and the shawl (including the colour)!

If you overdye with blue you will get a purple. If you overdye with purple you will get a red-violet.

You can tone down the pink by adding a SMALL amount of it's complimentary colour...green. Too much and it will turn a murky brown or drab green.

Of course that is all colour theory. Actual results can depend on so many variables.
